Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge

For this card I have followed the sketch on the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge. They have had some lovely challenges and this one was no different.

I have coloured Tilda with distress inks and some stickles for her wings and the ice.

The papers are ones I received from Sarah's Cards October Card Kit. I was so impressed with them this month. I have one complaint...you don't get enough! I don't know who they are from ..sorry! I can't even order more!

The Holly is from Making Menories and the sentiment is from Woodware. The red velvet ribbon and lace are from my stash.

Sketch Saturday

Just to say thank you to all of you who have left kind comments on my blog. I really appreciate them and the time you take to have a look at my cards.

Well, this is my card for Sketch Saturday.

I have used a stamp from Lizzie Anne Designs and coloured Santa in with promarkers and lots of stickles. He is very sparkly!

I then cut circles with my quickutz dies and added added twine inbetween the layers.

The cardstock I have used is American Crafts Christmas collection. The cardstock is textured and very similar to Bazzil but comes in handy colour families. The DP is 'Dashing' from SU.

I cut that into 4 squares and added faux stiching ( which is a bit ropey on this card!). I also added photo corners, buttons and ribbon. I don't have a handy ribbon punch, so I just slit holes with my craft knife and threaded my sentiment through. The sentiment is also from SU.

I have chalked around most of the edges with brown chalk for an aged feel.

You know how sometimes you make a card and you keep adding bits to it...then whoops, it is a bit too much. I think this is how I feel about this card. But hey ...that is how it is going to stay. I'm on a roll of making Christmas cards for this weekends upcoming craft fair. Lets hope the folk visiting are in a Christmassy mood!

Oh just to show you all what showed up up our way last night.....

It might have looked nicer if I captured the photo before the boys ran all around the garden...but October!!!! What is going on?????

Basic Grey Challenge

This is my submission to this weeks Basic Grey Challenge. The challenge was to use shapes in your card...squares, triangles, circles etc..you get the picture. So, I decided to go for something simple and used rectangles.

I had lots of scraps from the Basic Grey "Figgy Pudding" collection and thought I would like to use them all up. So, all the background papers are from there.

The stamp is "Charlie and his Snowman" from Whiff of Joy. I coloured him with promarkers and added stickles to his hat and the snowman. I've added highlights with a white ink pen.

I've added some ribbon and pearls for embellishment. A very simple card but I am quite lpeased with the results! I don't often feel like that.

Well, 2 out of 3 kids are back to school after 2 weeks, so I am looking forward to organising the house in relative peace. Youngest is watching Peppa Pig so will be happy for a few more minutes!!

Blessing Boxes

After seeing the lovely blessing boxes on Marlene's and Rach's blog I thought I would give it a try as my scor-pal arrived this week. I have a table at a craft fair on Fri and Sat so thought it would be great to sell something other than cards. I decided to keep them really simple as I wanted to make quite a few of them. Inside the boxes are some yummy Swiss milk chocolates :) I've eaten quite a few in the making process...well, who wouldn't??

I've used Figgy Pudding papers by Basic Grey, as I have lots that has not been used yet. I've then added a scallop border to the top of the box. I've added a tag with ribbon. I decided to tie the box closed at the top, so I punched a hole with my crop-o-dile and threaded ribbon through. The holly is a stamp from Unity, which has been cut out with a white border and pop dotted onto the tag. Here is a closer look:

Arty Girlz Blue and Orange Challenge

Just a very quick card today..none of the usual stamping and colouring! It had to be quick as not much time yesterday to stamp!

I saw on the Arty Girlz Challenge Blog that the theme this week was blue and orange. I knew I had some blue and oranges kicking about from this months Scrapagogo greetings kit. So I decided to use my very favourite retro flower punches to make 3 flowers from the papers in the kit. Sorry, I don't know where they are from. The orange gems and leaf ribbon are from the kit also. I punched a scallop border at the bottom.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts , as is the little stamped butterfly.

Hope your all well. My job for today is to organise my craft area..i.e. our dining room table! Sometimes I wish I had a room to store everything in but it is not going to happen anytime soon, so for now I am at the table. I was going to shame myself by showing you a photo of it, but the photo kept appearing beside the card and I didn't want that. I don't know how to get the photo in a different place! So, maybe it is better for you not to see the chaos! Saves my blushes :)

Whiff of Joy Challenge 5

This is my interpretation of this week sketch over on the Whiff Of Joy Challenge Blog. I really like the sketches where there are lots of layers.

I used Melinda in the rain and coloured her with prismacolour pencils and a little bit of sansador to blend.For the rain I added some liquid pearls for dimension.

The papers I have used are Basic Grey's 'Blush' collection. I've added some rub-ons from Cherry arte (the butterfly and flower).

I've punched out the flowers with my retro flower punches and added a half pearl to the centre. The sentiment is a ticket from Tim Holtz.

Well, just to say I am patiently waiting for Donna from Crafty Krafts to facelift my blog! I am currently top of her list so hopefully any time now.......I would give it a go myself but I have not a clue where to start.

The Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge No.3

Well, this was a lovely easy card to make for Secret Crafter Challenge No.3. We had to make a card with blue and white and a little bit of snowflake! So, I've managed this with just a teeny, weeny bit of brown. I'm sure no-one will notice. He he!

I decided to use Edwin's snowman stamp because he is so easy to colour. He is coloured with promarkers and stickles.

The papers used are from Basic Grey's 'FiggyPudding' collection. The background cardstock cardstock is Bazzill bling, which is lovely and sparkly.

The snowflakes are felt ones from Hero Arts and I've use a sparkly brad in the centre.

The tag is punched out from SU punches and the lettering is from Basic Grey and the ribbon is from my collection.

I think I will be making a few more of these nice simple ones to give at Christmas!

Friday Sketchers

Hello and hope you've all had a restful weekend.

This is my entry for Friday Sketchers. Don't think this is my most favourite card in the world but maybe it will grow on me.

I've used Tilda from the new Magnolia Pink collection. I've cut her out and pop dotted her on a piece of flower ribbon..or is it lace?

The papers are from Basic Grey Euphoria collection, which is just gorgeous. I've punched the flowers from the same paper and the swirls are from a quickutz die, again from the same papers.

I've added little silver rose beads (from ebay) to the centre of the flowers and purple dooddlebug brads to each corner and a little faux stitching here and there. The sentiment is from Scenic Route alphabet stickers.

Must run and tidy my house..have lots of family coming to stay today for a few days. So, must make the house look a little bit presentable !!!

Cute Card Thursday - Autumn

I love all these Autumn themed cards..the colours are so rich and lovely. Our weather has been exceptionally lovely this past week...clear blue skies and warm (ish). Very inspirational! And of course you get the nice dark evenings for crafting!

This is the card I have made for Cute Card Thursday. I've used another of my new hAnglars and coloured him with promarkers. I've pop dotted him in front of of a magnolia fence. I've used this image because it reminds me of all the jobs that need to be done in the garden right now!

The card is from American Crafts Autumn cardstock. And the stripey DP is from Scenice Route Sonoma collection.The large arrow is also a die-cut from this collection.

He is embellished with buttons from my jar and quickutz cookie cutter leaves.

Secret Crafter Challenge No.2

I'm going to enter this card into the Secret Crafter Challenge. I stumbled across this new challenge site and liked the look of the sketch for this week. Nice and simple!

I had this topper already made so it literally took me 10 mins to put together.

The image is Winter Nellie and she is coloured with promarkers.

The DP are Crate Papers..can't remember what collection. The swirls are Hero Arts and are stamped in Close to Cocoa from SU.

I've added pearls and ribbon from stash for embellishment.

Easy Peasy:)

I wasn't sure if the colours were Christmassy enough to make a Christamas card but I quite like a wee change from the traditional colours.

Not my idea of a fun afternoon. But if it keeps the boys happy then I won't complain. And they also get really tired, another bonus :)

Sketch Saturday and new hAnglar stamps!! WoooHooo!

This is my card for this weeks Sketch Saturday.

I wasn't going to do a card as I didn't have any ovals but I decided to do it freehand. Eeeeek! So don't look too closely..might be a bit rough around the edges..but it got the desired effect. I think the nesties will be on my Christmas list!

My stamps are ones I bought fom Caz, as she had some extra hAnglar and stAnglar sets going spare. Great! I feel very fortunate to have these, so I'm going to have fun inking them up. Thanks Caz!!!!

I coloured with watercolour pencils and promarkers and some stickles for the wings. the hearts and sentiment are quickutz dies. I'm not sure about the sentiment....but it will stay for the moment!

I've used lace, ric-rac and pearls for embellishments.

Whiff of Joy Challenge 3

This is my entry to the Whiff of Joy Challenge 3.

I really wanted to ink up my new WoJ stamps and they didn't disappoint. I coloured with prismacolour pencils and Sansador with white ink for highlights. I saw this technique of stamping onto coloured cardstock and really liked the effect and thought it would look good on a male card.

I used Basic Grey "Colour me Silly" papers for the background and American Crafts cardstock. I distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz tool. I added twine instead of ribbon and brads to the corners. Buttons are from my jar! The sentiment is Hero Arts and my own doodlings round the edges!

Going to get lots of tidying done today.. Dad will entertain the boys :) You know the change of seasons and you really need to sort out the drawers ..put t-shirts and shorts away till 2009! Well that is my job today!

Sugar Nellie Toppers

Not much to share today...had a quiet weekend crafting wise. I thought I would show you some toppers I have made last week for a topper swap on the Sugar Nellie forum. I used Winter Nellie and promarkers to colour. I used Basic Grey flourishes and swirls for the edges and chalked with brown round the edges. They are matted with matching green and pink cardstock. For a little extra, I added 3 teeny pearls to the bottom corner.

I quite enjoyed the repetion, I could watch the telly at the same time! I'm looking forward to receiving my toppers in the post. It will be interesting to see what others have created .

We are in the midst of the "tattie holidays " here in Scotland...so blogging might be intermitent! We are having a week of jobs around the house and taking the kids out in the afternoon. I thought I would show you some of the lovely autumn colours and fun we had on Saturday at Crathes Castle in Aberdeenshire.

Double Dutch Challenge No.2

This my entry to the Double Dutch Challenge No.2. When I saw the sketch I thought it looked really exciting and just had to have a go! I wanted a card with an Autumnal feel.

I coloured Tilda with distress inks and she is highlighted with white ink.

The papers I received from Scrapbuggy Sonoma kit. They have the most beautiful and sumptous papers from Scenic route. Perfect for this time of year!

The leaves are Quickutz cookie cutter dies which also came with the Sonoma kit.

And the sentiment if from Unity's September Kit of the month.

I think I will be making a few more cards with these papers.

I have a busy day having coffee today! Had a friend round this morning and expecting one round anytime now. I like those days when housework takes a backseat and you get to catch up with your friend's lives :)

Housework will always wait!

I am a bit late in posting today...I have had about 3 potty training accidents that needed mopped up :) Oh the joys..Thankfully it is a bright, sunny day so the washing will all get dried outside, even all my settee covers that need washed!

I made this card for no particular reason..just to have in my box for using whenever. I like the fun image and you can make it into a fun card! It has been sitting around for a while but I will submit it to this weeks Sketch Saturday challenge. It almost fits the sketch..my image is not a circle..but maybe it will do!

I do not have a Cuttlebug machine but I just love the embossing effect you can create with the embossing folders. So, with my Quickutz Revolution I have managed to use the flourish embossing folder. The platform is a little too small but it works...kind of...with the thin sticky mat. I think the new Quickutz Love (now Jan 2009) that is coming out is supposed to be compatible with all makes of dies. That would be great!

Altered Notebook

Today I wanted to show you another project that I submitted for the Silly Monkey Crafts DT call. I wanted to show them something that wasn't a card. So this is a note book I altered for my oldest boy, Daniel. He is 7 and ever since he was little has loved to scoot on his scooter! So, when I saw this image on Whiff of Joy I knew I could use it many times over.

He is really into writing little notes for people and drawing birds so I knew he would be delighted with this.

Basic Grey Challenge and Silly Monkey Crafts DT Submission

Good morning and I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I had a lovely time..quite restful and had a enjoyable time with our church family on Sunday afternoon. We had a lunch to welcome all the new students. The boys really enjoy it as they get time to eat and play with their friends and we get to relax (kind of ) and enjoy a pot luck lunch with friends.

I am submitting this card to my first challenge! This is for the Basic Grey Challenge No.5. The challenge was to use scallops on your card and also products from Basic Grey. I also submitted this card to Round 2 of the Silly Monkey Crafts DT Call. I was unfortunately not successful, but the talent was amazing and I look forward to hearing who will be joining them on their DT. I am thrilled just to have made it through onto Round 2.

My ingredients for this card:

Quick and Easy!

Just a quick post today! Off to to do jobs in Costco. I'm making pudding for 10 tomorrow for our church lunch and I'm cheating by getting a nice apple pie from Costco! I'm sure nobody will notice !

This is a card I made using the Hero Arts birthday celebration stamps. I have followed an idea from a card made on the Hero Arts blog. I like this card because it can be used for a male or female birthday...so I have put it away ready to be used when it is needed.

I have stamped the images and then coloured with prismaclour pencils. I have added liquid pearls to the sundae for dimension and have added a sprinkling of gems for a bit of sparkle.

The background paper is from SU and the buttons and ribbon are from my collection. So this card is simple and quick!

I believe!

I thought I would share with you some more of the cards I have been making and storing away for the upcoming craft fair. I have never been at one before so I'm not sure how many cards to make and whether to concentrate on Christmas or have a wide range available for folk to buy. Anyway, it is all experience and I'm looking forward to being there and meeting other crafters. Some of you reading this might be experienced at craft fairs..feel free to let me know your experiences!

I hope you like this card! It was sitting on my dining room table waiting for a photo to be taken and my boys saw it. They do not often get excited about my cards ( unlike me!) but they gave some positive comments about this one!

An oldie

My apolgies for putting up cards that I have done a few months ago. I am busy this week completing some other projects that I hope to show you soon!

This is a simple wedding card or could be turned easily into an anniversary card. The stamps are from Stampendous, which I have coloured with watercolour pencils. The image is matted onto silver cardstock. The background is a sentiment stamp stamped over and over again in silver ink. The wording goes like this " May your life together be full of love and your love full of life." This stamp is from Penny Black. 3 half pearls are added for a little decorative touch. I have doodled a frame around the edges. Oh the turqoise cardstock is from Bazzil.

Hope your all having a good day...I'm off to sort out the kitchen, then the washing, then ....the list goes on. The rain is on today so should get lots done.
