Sketch Saturday..free for all!

A quick post for today ...lots of jobs to do today! I like to have my house clean and tidy to welcome the New Year! Bit sad eh?? We also have friends coming round for a roast tomorrow so have to get that all sorted!

Is there anyone else like me, that once Christmas is past likes to just put all the decorations away? Well, the tree is going away this afternoon along with all the other bits and bobs cluttering up the room. I've bought some lovely cut flowers to make the place feel fresh again!

Anyway onto the card! This week at Sketch Saturday you could pick any of the past years sketches. I chose week 21.

I have been a bit scared of my Sarah Kays..silly I know, but I have found it really tricky getting a good stamping impression. Well I bit the bullet and coloured her with prismacolor pencils. I used my sewing machine again (I LURVE it!) and it is much improved from my last attempt, so no distressing needed to hide my mistakes!!!

The papers, cardstock, and flowers are all from this months card kit from Sarah's Cards. The crystal brads and charm are from my stash as is the rub-on sentiment.

Well, time to go and wishing you all a very Happy Hogmanay. Me, I shall be in bed before the bells :( Little ones do not sleep late because you brought in the New Year in style!! Anyway I like to feel good on the 1st Jan!

Hello, everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful family time and are feeling rested??? Maybe not??

We have had a quiet time this year with just ourselves as our family are living abroad or working and unable to visit. It has been great to relax and spend time with the boys and get totally gubbed by them on the Wii!

I have managed to put this card together over about 3 days! A bit at a time!

Well under the tree waiting for me this year was a mini-sewing machine. I am no expert..in fact I have not a clue when it comes to using it! So this was my first attempt at using it on my cards. I thought I would go for the distressed look as it might disguise my primary school sewing. I quite like the rustic look!! Hubbie is expecting all all our clothes to be fixed beautifully! Little does he know..I just want my cards to look beautiful!! LOL!

Anyway I have seen so many beautiful cards finished on the inside and out that I thought I would do that too on this one. Don't expect it on all my cards maybe just the odd one! Again the distressed look!

Must run and rescue kids...I can hear them flooding the bathroom! Can't turn my back for a minute!!

Forever Love

Well, I did say I wouldn't be back until the New Year but I'm impatient and couldn't wait to ink, colour and show you some of the new Leanne Ellis designs from Sugar Nellie. Hee hee! I decided to use this weeks sketch fom Sketch Saturday and hooray it was so much fun to make a non-Christmas card!

So, the rules are I have to tell you my 5 addictions! I am quite an ordinary girl with no hidden vices!! So I will tell you my addictions but don't get too excited! You might fall asleep! I will assume that my dear husband and 3 children are already my addiction as well as crafting and shopping for all stash and I'm also assuming blogging is an addiction most of us have!!

So, in no particular order!

1. coffee..has to be 'real' (no instant please!)

2. chatting with friends and family.

3. walks in the fresh air

4. sweet puddings..anything will do but no sultanas!

5. port..my nightcap of preference.

A sneaky peek!

Just to let you all know that you can have a sneaky peek at the new Sugar Bowl today! It will be launched on the 1st Jan where you can all join in our very first challenge. Hope you like it! Gayle has been doing a lot of hard work to put it all together these last few weeks!

I might not be doing a lot of posting between now and the 1st of Jan. I am going to take a wee break from card making and concentrate some time with my boys (big and small!).

A day to celebrate..

Wow! I've managed to make a card! Feels like a long, long time since I've had a chance to create! I've had the dreaded lurgy and only just emerging out the other side.

So how are you Christmas preparations going??? Do you feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel??

Well todays card is a request from a friend for a birthday card for a little boy. I used an image kindly sent to me by Tammi. I think this is one of my favourite H and S images! I coloured with prismacolour pencils and highlighted with white ink pen. The DP is from Basic Grey and is 'Colour me Silly'. The 'Happy Birthday ' is a rub on and the ticket is a stamp from 'Autumn Leaves'.

A Little Birdie told me.....

I have some exciting news to share! My blogging dreams have come true! Many of you will already know that Sugar Nellie is setting up a new blog in the New Year called 'The Sugar Bowl'.

They recently had a call for some new 'sweeties' to join Marlene and Tiets and Gayle. I am thrilled and honoured to tell you that I have been chosen as one of their DT along with Kathy ,Lia and Lilian.

This is what I entered into their DT contest. I decided to make a gift folder for my sister who lives in the Phillipines. She was the one who first introduced me to cardmaking and now she cannot get hold as easily all the lovely stamps that we have here. So I am going to fill this folder with stamped images for her to use and maybe some other treats!!

So I hope you are all excited about the new 'Sugar Bowl' and will join us all on the 1st Jan to celebrate its launch! Have a look over at Funky Kits where you can order the new range of stamps. The new Leanne Ellis designs are fabulous. I can't wait to get colouring!

Another one ticked off...

Another one ticked off the list! Now onto the hard graft of writing all my Christmas cards!!

I had Pip here who had never been inked and thought I'd better get a skate on or he would be put in the box until next year. He is a perfect size..not too big and not too little! I am going to enter this card into the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge as the theme this week is embossing.

I hope you have all had a productive weekend. It is hard not to let things overwhelm you with the amount you have to do..but I like to work with a list and tick one off at a time and slowly but surely you get it all done!

High Hopes

I have admired the High Hopes stamps from afar and the time has come that I had to use one for myself! Well, I was impressed! I have seen this image on other blogs and loved it. I so enjoyed colouring it while my little one napped and I watched Loose Women! Ssshhh! Don't tell hubby!

Anyway, Santa and his tree were coloured with prismacolour pencils and highlighted with stickles. The background is done with twinkling H2O's.

The challenge this week on the High Hope's blog was 'metal madness'. I don't think I went 'mad' with the metal , but I've incuded some metal brads and a metal photo turn on the the sentiment.

The papers are K&Co. Buttons are from my stash.

I think that is it for today...

Off to chill after a busy morning running a Mum's and Tot's group...

Thanks a lot...

Well, I've made a Thank You card and not even finished my Christmas cards! A change is good! So, thank you to A Spoon Full of Sugar for this great challenge. I used a lovely stamp sent to me by Anki in a wee swap we did. What a sweetheart...she knows how difficult it is to get hAnglar and stAnglar stamps so sent me a pile of images and a couple of stamps too! Thank you my dear! It is so appreciated!

She is coloured with prismacolor pencils and highlighted with white ink pen. Don't look too closely, I think I went a bit mad with the highlights! I cut her out and pop her onto my new nestie labels. The DP is from Cherry Arte 'Morocco' collection. The ribbon is from SU and the sentiment is stickers from Doodlebug.

Sketch Saturday

No Christmas cards today. I've had 3 separate requests to make a 40th Birthday cards for friends. So, they are all getting the same design! I used the sketch from Sketch Saturdaywhich was not too complicated this week and I wanted to finish them all in one sitting. So fast and simple was the name of the game!

I used a stamp from Penny Black and coloured her with promarkers. the sentiment is from hero arts. I embossed a piece of coredinations Black magic paper and snaded it down to reveal the core colour. I've been doing this a lot recently! It adds a lot of texture to the card. The flowers are from my card kit from Sarah's Cards..lovely blooms every month!

I've even managed to decorate the insides of the cards! I couldn't fit the whole greeting on the front and I'm really pleased to give them a card with both inside and outside decorated. The cupcake stamp is also from Hero Arts and I used a quickutz die to cut the photocorners.

Right, back on to the Christmas cards today! Anyone else out there got more snow today?? Wow, what a winter we aer having up here..so crisp and cold and snowy! Beautiful!

A quickie for Friday Sketchers

A quick card today for Friday Sketchers. Thank you Carole for the nice and easy sketch. The stamp is from Unity and I coloured it with prismacolor pencils and highlighted with white ink pen. The background paper is from K & Co and the cardstock is American Crafts.
For the embellishments I used ribbon from Rasperry Ribbons, holly from Making Memories and brads from Doodlebug! The sentiment is made with my Around the Block tape writer..great fun :)

Hope you have all had a good weekend..we have had no hot water. It will hopefully be fixed today. How much we rely on these things!
