Engagment card

Todays card is a request from a friend to make an engagment card for her. Now I love making this style of cards with images to colour and lots of patterned papers but it is not everyones cup of tea. Years ago I used to sell my cards to friends and family and at a local post office and I cringe at them now. A wee thing stuck here and a flower there...but people bought them !!!
Now I have had a few people say to me they prefered my cards when they were not so 'busy'. I just think much have I progressed since then. Even hubbie takes some convincing that I feel I have learned a lot and progressed since my days of decoupage and peel offs... ( I am ashamed to say!!)
Anyway the point of that was I am not sure whether this card will be in her taste..... I shall wait and see and let you know the outcome. I will be able to read it on her face!!
Right..I followed the fabulous sketch on Ismaki this week. My image is quite large so hides quite a lot of the papers...but I still went with it. I stamped two hAnglars side by side and they even look like they might be holding hands! They are coloured with prismas. The papers are from BG 'Bittersweet' collection and are distressed then stitched together. I have stamped an October Afternoon flourish and highlighted parts of it with white ink pen.

For the inside I have followed the same theme and kept if fairly simple...a bit like myself!

Hope you have a great Friday and enjoy your weekend! I am hoping for a little melt of some snow !

Well, regardless of what your friend thinks, I love your card! Papers are beautiful and your colouring is gorgeous.

I know what you mean though, us crafters seem to love the details whilst everyone else appreciates simple! ~x~

Hi Judy,

Stunning card - I love it.

I do however have to agree with what you have said and also the comments from Stacey. Funny isn't it how we crafters have a totally different take on what makes a great card!!

Have a great weekend.

Fabby card Judy! Love the images, so cute!

Don't talk to me about decoupage and peeloffs LOL, I'm still trying to get rid of my stash of it LOL.

If I do a card for an order now, I show them a few of what I do ie cutie, and tell them theirs will be like that, like you say you can usually tell by their face if its there cuppa or not then. {I do this cos I got one back once.....she didin't like it LOL,....... no taste I say LOL}

I have just been sat here nodding at the screen Judy. I know certain peeps who prefer my 'cut and stick' early creations, the ones that make you cringe whenever you look at them now. A lady at work sometimes orders cards from me and always says 'not one of your busy ones if you don't mind'!!!
So it seems that no matter how far you progress and develop some peeps will always like the peel off ones!!!
Anyway, this is so beautiful, I love those Hanglar images and your distressing looks amazing! xxx

Judy, this is just delightfully stunning and I am convinced it will be adored and treasure by the recipients. Love all the papers and textures on this. The inside is just as beautiful. I know what you mean wrt to us progressing with our styles. I feel the same when I look 10 years back at my scrapbooking layouts and compare it to my current ones. But hey, those days we also did not have all the yummylicious products thats on the market right now ... just imagine 10 years from now ! Have a great Valentines tomorrow. Hugs from Desire

well I love the card, and such an adorable image beautifully coloured. I find making cards for specific people impossible, and now just tell them to look through the pile to see if there is anything they like. I have to love making the card in the first place! hugs, annie x

Hi Judy, a beautiful card, love all the details, the image and it's coloured perfectly :)

It's one of the hardest things as a cardmaker to make a card to order, can be stressful, and personally i believe that only we understand and appreciate the effort that goes into choosing all the right elements, which you've done beautifully here Judy :)

I sell most of my cards and i'd say half of them i dont blog because they are much simpler but i love nothing more than making a card 'for myself' so i can be as busy as i like.

Really enjoyed browsing through all your lovely cards i've missed, love your style, Have a great weekend, love Katy x

Love the card Judy! Thank you for your sweet comments about Anki's sweethearts. I thought you would like Isac, since you have 3 boys. Well - I will be making some more "boys" for the next set (yes - she has asked me to continue this adventure - so now I need to come up some new ideas. So please tell me what your boys like. Hi Judy, I think you card is gorgeous, not busy at all. I think I'm at the stage where I feel my cards are like the ones you used to sell in the P.O. I can see them getting better but wish I could get them like the the ones on the blogs I love to visit. Your card is beautiful, and your colouring is perfect, your cards are an inspiration and I'm sure your friend and the lucky recipient will be delighted.x

Beautifully colroed Judy! the hairs look great ;) Your friend will love this card. No one else on this planet has it :) I love your style of cardmaking. I honestly struggle with matching papers and embellishments so most of my cards are "duh" compared to yours. Your card's really great! Have a great weekend!

Beautiful card Judy, such a cute couple...perfect for Valentine's Day! It's so hard making cards to order...don't like doing that at all...much prefer just to play and make cards for family :-)
I can't imagine anyone not liking this stunning card.

Well I love your card Judy and of course you have progressed, your cards are art! It's a shame that not everyone shares the same eye for the style but I'm sure you're friend will see all the work and love that's gone into the making of your beautiful engagement card. Chris x
