Just Magnolia 2 and Friday Sketchers

Hope you have all had a nice weekend and swinging your way back slowly into the week ahead!
Got a busy week ahead so not sure how many cards I will be posting! I managed to find some time to create over the weekend and I combined the challenge of pink and green over on Just Magnolia and used Murielle's lovely sketch on Friday Sketchers for my layout. Pretty easy to make a card when someone has drawn it for you and someone else has picked the colours!

I choose Tilda from the 'Pink' collection which just screams out to be coloured in pink! I added some shimmerz to the rose. Doesn't come out in the photo though! And I managed to delve into my large button collection to find some of these scrummy buttons.
And a simple inside: (oopps the dew drops are squint!)
Thanks for taking the time to pop by my blog. I love reading all your lovely comments.

Colour Create - Brown, Orange and Green

Hello there ! Well, yes I am having a run on cards for men and boys!! And the colour scheme is soo similar to my last one!! My next card is going to be very different, I promise!

Jo this week set us a challenege on Colour Create of Brown , Orange and Green with the extra option of a man's card. Perfect colours for a male card. I love the warmth of the orange to really set the others colours off. Thanks Jo..great challenge!

I decided to use one of my fave WOJ stamps..Oakley on his Scooter and coloured with my prisma pencils. A man's card is the perfect excuse for some distressing to get the rugged look! So I distressed all of the edges!!

For the inside I carried on the same colours and themes.

I hope you can find some time to join us this week. Go check out the rest of the DT cards..all very different but all very inspiring!!

Thanks for taking the time to look and I love receiving all your comments!

Sugar Bowl - Men

Good morning everyone and welcome to another Sugar Bowl Challenge. This week the challenge is 'Men!' I'm sure this is one we all find a little tricky as we have to put aside the flowers, swirls and pretty colours and papers!!

Here is what the Sugar Bowl says:

"Make a card for the most difficult of the species!
Please make a card, or other craft project, using a Sugar Nellie stamp for a male.
Any age at all, young, old or 'in between'
Now, as most men seem to be a mystery...
So will the prize for this challenge.
One lucky winner, chosen at random, will win a fabulous mystery prize from
Sugar Nellie!
This will be the last Sugar Bowl Challenge as you currently know it...changes are afoot, and will be in place for our next challenge!
Oh, I do love a bit of suspense!"

I decided to use one of the Home Grown boys which are just perfect for making cards for adorable little boys. I also had in my stash a BG 'Recess' pad which had never been used..perfect!

I kept the card pretty simple and just used a bit of stitching to hold it all together and to finish it off! The photo corners are some chipboard shapes I had lying around, which I covered in orange cardstock and sanded them a little to distress them.

I have decorated the inside but forgot to take a photo..hopefully get a chance to edit this in later!!

Not much else to say really...the sentiment is a rub-on and I thought it suited the image perfectly. I could see this happening in my house and cries of 'It wasn't me!'

Have a great day and hope you find time to join us this week. Go check out the other 'sweeties' creations...just stunning and you'll find oodles of inspiration there if you are struggling!

Celebrate with Miss Anya

Morning my lovely readers!! I hope things are good with you this morning!

Today I have a card to show you with my new Miss Anya's. I finally managed to get hold of some..they seemed to be out of stock everywhere so finally got them from the US. These are going to be just perfect to make cards for those stylish girls!! I love 'em. ( I know I've all been saying that for weeks!)
I followed the sketch on Friday Sketchers. I replaced the oval with a rectangle and changed the position of the flowers and the sentiment. Would have looked funny the other way around. Does it still count?? Hey, I'm feeling brave today so I'll enter it!
The big flower is cut from a piece of the co-ordinating DP, as are the flowers on the inside. I distressed the edges with Frayed Burlap and then curled them with scissors to make them 3D.
And a wee peek at the inside.
Thanks for looking and for all the lovely comments you leave. Much appreciated!

Colour Create - Balck, White and Pink!

How are you???

Well, another week has gone past and we are back again for Colour Create. This week it is the truly talented Chris aka, the Sketching Stamper (!), who has chosen the colour combo of black, white and pink with the extra option of polkat dots.

I am really enjoying these colour challenges as they are making me use combinations I would not naturally go to but am usually pleased with the results when I do.

I decided for this card not to go for many layers , I wanted the DP to show and the image do all the talking!!

I coloured this Gorjuss Girl from Collection #2 in promarkers. I did it in pencils first and it was too bland so I was redid it in promarkers. I curled tiny strips of green card to make the grass and dotted the flowers about. I have seen this done somewhere before on another blog and can't remember where. So, thank you whoever you are for the idea!! If it was you let me know!!
Well, go check out what the other lovely girls have done with this combination. You won't be disappointed!

Thanks for taking the time to check mine out.

Have a great Sunday. I think we might pack a picnic and head out to a castle after church to chase the sunshine. I have heard it is still lingering on the East coast , so we are heading WEST!!

An Award and some chat!

Morning all! We are back from our few days away and it was lovely and relaxing even if was freezing. We were on the very tip of NE Scotland..just a few miles from John o'Groats in a wee town called Wick.

But I left my camera I can't show you any cards. I am very cross with myself! It should be winging its way by snail mail to me as I type . I hope I get it tomorrow so we can resume normal services!!
On the way back home yesterday we took a wee detour through Elgin to visit 'The House of Sugar'! I had great pleasure in meeting Karen....Mrs. Sugar Nellie, and putting a name to a face and seeing the workings of Sugar Nellie! It was lovely to chat to her and see her well oiled machine that it Sugar Nellie. They have a lovely spacious craft shop with lovely goodies if any of you ever get the chance to visit it is well worth finding!

Finally I want to thank Danielle for giving me this lovely award. Much appreciated! She makes lovely cards and is well worth a visit.

Look forward to being back with a card!!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!
Welcome to this weeks Colour Create where Tab has chosen the colours of brown, beige and cream. What a delicious combination! Makes me think of coffee and cream or a box of chocolates!

The extra option this week is distressing..just up my street :)

I decided this week to colour my Gorjuss Girl with pro-markers..eek..I was a bit scared! I think I managed OK but just with a little bit of bleeding. The paper I have is perfect for my prismas but possibly a bit too thin for promarkers. Anyway ..a note to self..use them more often!

I also had a wee go at hand stitching. First time I have tried this and I love the texture it gives. Will definetely be doing this again and it didn't take half as long as I thought it would!

My apologies for the photo..not brilliant but the light was just pants! Dreary dull and misty!

Will be back midweek when I hope to catch up with y'all.

Sugar Bowl 8 - A Sketch Challenge

Welcome to week 8 of the Sugar Bowl. This week we have another fabulous sketch by Tiets. She is the Queen of sketches!! For this one I've gone all vintage!! This is what the SugarBowl says:

Challenge 8 - Tiets Sketch #2

I think most of us love the challenge of a sketch, and it's great to see the different interpretations, which really show your own individual style!

So for this challenge, we would like to see your creations, using this fantastic sketch by
As always, you must include a Sugar Nellie stamp.
You may rotate, re size or elongate the sketch, you can even make something other than a card, all that we ask is that we can see that the item has followed the sketch.

I've has some gorgeous 7 Gypsies papers for ages and have finally cut into them! It was really hard getting the colour on my Gorjuss girl to match the papers. I ended up with a blend of brown , pumpkin and deep red. It is as close as I could manage. That is the one downfall with my prismas..sometimes I can't get the deep earthy tones I want in my colouring. I might just save and get some copics one of these days!

A simple inside to carry the theme through.

Go and check out the other takes on the sketch by the other 'Sweeties'...just gorgeous!

Thanks for looking and thank you for all your wonderfully encouraging comments. they are much appreciated.

My card today is just in the nick of time for Whiff of Joy 'Lets get Dirty' - Distressing! and I also used this weeks sketch from Friday Sketchers. I'm not sure I like the card...too much distressing but it is done so too late now to change it!

Colour Create - Duck Egg and Rose

Good morning and welcome to another week at Colour Create. This week it is my turn to choose the colour combo. We are in the process of 'doing up' our living room and I have been browsing lots of mags for ideas. A trendy colour scheme right now is 'duck egg and rose'. Looks stunning in a living-room, but not mine, with three boys it would never last! So I choose the colour combo for my cards instead. Next best thing eh??

Now my optional extra is stitching which can be real or faux.

Go and check out the ther DT cards this week. They are WOW!! you can view them here.

Hope you can join in and remember you can combine this challenge with any others.

Thanks for taking the time to browse,

Sugar Sugar Easter Project

Well 1st you believe already a third of 2009 has past???
I must be getting old commenting on the weather on my blog and how time flies. I really must get some more interesting topics of conversation!!
Thank you to all of you who took the time to take part in my turn at the Sugar Sugar project last month. Your cracked glass examples were stunning.
This month we have been asked to create an Easter project. As soon as I read this I knew what I wanted to create. I sent the boys out to the woods with their Dad to bring me back a nice branch. I placed some soil in a plant pot and stuck my branch in.
I had great intentions of making my own dyed eggs, but I was at a Garden Centre the other week and there sitting in a gorgeous bag were these decorated eggs. How could I resist?? This meant I had more time to concentrate on decorating the plant pot.
For the pot I wanted to create a 3 dimensional feel. I choose Annie and stamped her skirt again and curled it to make it 3D. The grass is a quickutz die and the butterfly is from the die-cut shapes in the Basic Grey 'Urban Prairie' collection. I punched the eggs shapes out and placed some of them on foamies. The swirl is stamped and then highlighted with white ink pen. I punched the blossom out and added the centres with liquid pearls.

I hope you likey! It is sitting now on my coffe table in the living room and makes the room feel very springy!

Check out what all the other 'sweeties' have created and our fabulously talented guest for this month, Rach! You can find all the details here!

Thanks for looking,
