ASFOS and Double Dutch!

Good evening one and all! Thanks for popping by! Hope you are well and looking forward to the weekend. no Bank Holiday for us here in Scotland...BOOOOOOO! But the kids did have a inservice today...YEAHH!!!!! ( I think!)

The card I am sharing with you today is one I made as a commision for a friend. She wanted a 40th and I reckon the Miss Anyas are perfect for the occasion! I am also going to enter this into A Spoon Full of Sugar Anniversary Challenge which is a celebration and also into Double Dutch who provided the fabby sketch!
I used some gorgeous papers from My Minds Eye 'Penny Lane' and have coloured her as usual with my prismas and stitched the layers with my sewing machine.
A wee close up..a bit squinty I know!

I have NOT done the insides of the card as she asked for a card in my 'cheaper' bracket!! I had to laugh.....or be offended! LOL! I never know what to charge for my cards. I sometimes want to ask for a fiver for cards with lots of embellishments and decorated inside and out. Sometimes that even seems a little for the amount of time that goes into a card. But if you asked for a fiver people's jaws would drop! Never mind how much a handmade card would cost at M & S!

Anyway to keep this in a 'cheaper' bracket without compromising on my style and quality I decided to keep the inside plain. Incase you are wondering I asked for £3! I would love to hear what you charge for your cards?? And where and how you sell them!

Thanks for having a wee look and on a more personal note I am very very excited becausewe have just booked tickets to visit my sister who lives in the Phillipines and I have not seen her for nearly 3 years . I am so looking forward to being with them for a whole MONTH and getting to know my neice and nephew again. It is going to be such a special time for both of our families. Anyway it is not till next lots of time to save and anticipate!!

hugs Judy x

Gorgeous card Judy - she got a bargain.
I have the same problem and hate selling cards to friends cos I dont know what to tell them price wise. Which is why I like craft shows where I sell them from between 2 and 5 pounds dependant on whether in box and embellishments.

Oh gorge card Judy, love the image and colours that you have chosen! Stunning!

Oh I hate the whole price for cards thing, I never know what to charge LOL! Usually my price ranges from £3.50-£5 depending on whether the inside is down or not. I always tell people before I do it, jsut incase they don't wanna pay that much. Leigh bought me a crimbo card last year that cost £8.50!!!!!!, so I never feel guilty about charging anymore LOL...I nearly died LOL!

This is gorgeous, Judy!! You are charging wayyyy too little for your cards! I have no idea how much a pound is compared to our dollar, but I sell my cards on both Ebay & Etsy. Etsy is a set price....I just price it according to how complicated or simple the card is. I start all my cards on Ebay at $7.99, so I usually make between that & $15 per card. Last summer was huge for me....I would rather not say here what I was getting but it was wayyyy more than $15 a card!! Some people out there really appreciate handmade items!

Judy, I'm so glad I'm able to visit you again with all my blogger problems. Anyhow I think this card is terrific. That Double Dutch sketch looks intimidating to me and you made it look so perfect. Pretty, pretty papers and sweet image.

What a fabulous card Judy - just gorgeous colouring and fantastic colours! Perfect for a 40th birthday. I sell my cards too and they range anywhere from CAN$6.50 up to $10. Some people pay without a blink of an eye 'cos they appreciate the effort that goes into handmade cards, others want the nice handmade card but wince at the price! It's always a bit of a tough call but don't compromise yourself or your beautiful work!
Hugs, Danielle

Hi Judy
Another gorgeous card - well worth the £3 you charged!!! I think your friend got an absolute bargain. Somehow I think people confuse 'handcrafted' with 'handmade' and and therefore expect the price to be lower than they would have to pay in a decent card shop - I guess that's the same as comparing 'hallmark/clinton cards' with a cheap supermarket own brand lol!!!!! Hope you have a great weekend.
Take care
Debs xx

Gorgeous card and colours. For a
6" square card I charge between £2.50 and £3.50 depending on how much has gone into it. I only sell to friends and neighbours so far. I tried craft shows and they weren't interested!

Well, your card is absolutely wonderful, even if it's a 'cheaper' one! *LOL*

I never sell my cards anymore, I don't make so many, so the ones I make, I give away for birthdays and such.
£3 is not enough, you should take at least £5 or more.
When I started card making 5 years ago, I sold some cards, and they were pretty plain. A woman ordered a card, and when I said it would be £2.50 she said O no, here's £10! So people are very different in their opinions on the price...

Stunning card Judy. I love these Miss Anya's and your MME papers are gorgeous! I charge £2.50 for my cards and donate 50p from each card to Cancer Research! I usually sell them to my work colleagues {and some family members}!

A lovely card and a steal at £3! If I am selling cards I always leave the inside plain (unless specifically asked for a sentiment inside) so all the effort is put into the front to try to achieve the Wow factor.

Lovely card.Colors are great.
And for price of card I must tell you my situation. In my country card making is just hobby and you can't earn anything. There are no special stores so everything I want to make I must do it myself.
So...If you can earn on your cards go on...

Didn't mean to nag, just want to say that I must spend more time to make card but can't sell it.

So many gorgeous creations Judy since may last visit.
Your latest card is stunning, I love the tag idea, and fab colours too.
I always struggle with prices, but I would definitely say this was worth every penny!

Your card is lovely Judy gorgeous colouring. I mostly sell my cards for £2.25. I think they are cheap at that price but I still don't sell many. I've sold a few on Etsy. I'd say I give them away more than I sell them but when it comes down to it I make them because I enjoy it not because I want or need to make money.

oh wow, a whole month in the Phillipines, how fab is that!! Will be great to see your sisters family and catch up.
And that lady really got a bargain.
I never know what to charge for cards - sometimes I can be quite precious about them. Lets face it - they take hours to make. I just tell people to give me what they think they should. Mind you, I haven't sold very many.

Hi Judy

Wow, this card is amazing, I absolutely adore the papers you have used and Anya is coloured to perfection. I only tried to sell my cards once and it was a no go so I didn't bother again. I might try again at the school fete in a few weeks so I will let you know how I get on !!

Your trip sounds fantastic ! I bet you can't wait to go !

Beautiful card Judy, love those colours too,I know what you mean about prices, its just so awkward, I tend to ask 50p more than what the card cost to make, adding up all the embellies, ribbon if its boxed etc; otherwise I would not be able to do it! It is best to ask how much they want to spend first! Happy Crafting Sue xx
