Sugar Bowl 1# 16 - Marlene's sketch

Well howdy do! How are we all?? As I write this we are in Durham on our hols.

Today is another Sugar Bowl challenge and this time the sketch is by Marlene. She has given us a beauty! And this time the extra option is doodling. Now as you will see from all the 'sweeties' entries that some of us are no expert doodlers.....and some of us are! I am definetely of the former variety!!

My card today features a current favourite of mine..'Upside Down' by Diane Duda. She is coloured with prismas and twinkling H2O's and then highlights added with a white ink pen. The sky has been done with H2O's. Then my doodles have been added around the edge of the image.

The papers are all October Afternoon and the flowers have been cut out from a pieces of the patterned paper with a brad added to the middle. The edges have been inked and curled for a bit of definition.

Well I have managed to get online and the hols so far are a bit 'dodge the shower' but we have had a nice time. So far we have explored Durham Cathedral and been to Beamish for the day. What a fab day that was..we didn't get round it all so we are going to go back and take a trip on the trams again! Today is wet wet wet..so maybe a bit of indoor action is in order! No pics to show you I'm afraid as I didn't bring my camera cables ...doh!

Thank you and Truly Scrumptious

Firstly I want to say a huge 'THANK YOU' to all you lovely gals who have stopped by my blog to congratulate me on my new DT position with Sugar Nellie. I wish I could come past each and every one of you and thank you personally. Unfortunately time will not allow!!

We are going away on holiday tomorrow for 2 weeks and we have a family coming to stay in our house while we are away. So, not only do I have to pack and organise ourselves but also make sure bathrooms, beds, kitchen blah blah blah are spotless!! Eeeekkkk!

My card today should really be a Sugar Nellie in honour of them but I had this gorgeous Tilda coloured and ready on my desk!! I followed the sketch over on Truly Scumptious and added the extra option of beads. If you peer very closely you can see my pin with some pearl beads attached beside the flowers.

My Tilda is coloured with prismas, with some pearlescent chalk for the sky. My papers are MME 'Wild Asparagus' and I have stitched some of the layers together. The flowers are prima and the sentiment is Hero Arts. Opps I see I didn't fix the charm in place before I took the photo!

So, this is my last card for a while. I have a post scheduled for Sugar Bowl on Thursday, but apart from that I will not be around. I have e-mail access where we are going so although I won't be posting I might take some sneaky peeks at your blogs!!

Dreams do come true!

I am thrilled and honoured to tell you I have been picked as one of the new Sugar Nellie DT. I can honestly tell you that I have dreamed of this since I discovered SN. If there was anything in the crafting world I wanted to aim at, it was being part of this fabulous team. I love the stamps which makes being part of the DT such a pleasure! Thank you soooooooo very much Karen, for picking me, I am truly thrilled!

I look forward to working alongside all these other wonderful and talented ladies that have been chosen and of course the very talented Marlene and Tiets. Yeahhhh!!

A Winter Day

Hello my crafty friends! How are you today? I have a very quick one to share with you today. My 'to do' list is very large!

I have made a Christmas card!! It took me a long time to get into the zone ....just didn't feel like using Christmas papers...but last night the rain poured and the wind howled so the card just came together !! It felt and sounded very wintery outside.

Anyway, this wonderful image is called Max and Snowman and is available from Pink Gem Designs and is in stock right now! She has some gorgeous wintery designs in stock if you want to get ahead on your Christmas cards!! It was a dream to colour with a mixture of prismas and copics (boots, arms, hair). I stamped some Basic Grey swirls around the edges and added stickles on the ground and to the snowflakes and to the pom pom on his hat!

The papers are all Basic Grey 'Dasher' collection. That fabulous sentiment circle is from my lovely Sugar Bowl friend , Kathy, who kindly stamped a few out for me.

Mr and Mrs

Good morning and how was your weekend?? I've had a busy one .....but managed to piece this card together bit by bit over a few days.

I followed Debbie's lovely sketch over on A Spoon Full of Sugar.
I have used copics for a change to colour the 2 hAnglar images and the cut them out. I managed to finally cut into this lucious Doodlebug paper I have had for a loooooong time. It is flocked and gives a lovely textured effect to the card. Some pieces are glittered as well. I thought it perfect for a wedding card.

The beautiful flowers are ones I bought from Julie's Etsy shop. Aren't they fab?? Thanks Julie, I love them all.

I'll be adding this card to my Etsy shop later if anyone is interested!

10 years ago today!

Today is our 10th Wedding Anniversary !! So I wanted to share just a couple of piccies with you from that day!

I am not normally very soppy or sentimental but I just want to say to Norm, 'I love you' and I thank God for each day we have together and for the wonderful boys we have been given. Sometimes the road is rough and rocky but with God's grace and help we can hold hands and get through it together. May the next 10 years bring us only closer to each other and to God, our Rock. Thank you Norman, for all you are and all that you do, love J xx

Back to the card!!! He likes clean and simple....so I tried to keep it that way. How hard was it to stop and not add some more bits here and there. What is it with white space that makes me want to cover it up??

The card is made with all the heart stamps and punches I could find and all the pink and red inks in my stash! I distressed the edges with 'Frayed Burlap' and on some of the hearts I stamped text. One of the hearts is covered with crackle paint. I just wanted each heart to be different and unique !

Sugar Bowl ~15 Gayles sketch

Yeah..its another Sugar Bowl Thursday!!

Hope you are doing well. Me, I'm grand. My oldest 2 boys have been staying at their Granny and Grandpas all week so I have been down to 1 kiddo. It has been great to get some extra things done that I normally just do not have time for. I have cleaned out toys and clothes, hoovered behind beds, pulled out weeds..blah blah blah!! What an exciting life I lead :)


Right tee hoo..onto me card. I have flipped Gayles fabulous sketch around and the extra option this time is ribbons and bows.

I have coloured a fabulous new Gorjuss girl from set 3 with prismas and copics. I ued copics for the hair and prismas for the dress. The dress has also been cut out and curled for dimension, then stuck on with foam pads.

The lovely lovely papers I bought from my local-ish craft store, Simply Create. They are from Panduro and are sooooo yummy. All my layers are stitched together and the edges distressed with 'Worn Lipstick'.

For the 'ribbons and bows' extra option I decided to have a go at the ribbon blossom. The tutorial can be found here on Splitcoaststampers. My blossom is a lot smaller than the one int he tutorial and a lot messier too! LOL! But I had fun making it and it looks kinda funky!!

Here is a wee peek of the inside..same papers and colours and a wee sentiment from Aud Designs. Just love those circular sentiments. So I hope you can find time to join us.....this time the winner will receive the 4 manga images that were previewed on the Sugar Nellie blog this week. Wow..what a prize..... I just love these new funky, yet cute images. Can't wait till they go on sale!

Just Magnolia

Morning all..... very dull and overcast one at that. I've had a little time to play and managed to join in the the fabulous sketch from Mina over at Just Magnolia.

I've coloured my fav Tilda for the moment in prisma colour pencils, and the photo hasn't picked it up , but she has glossy accents on her boots, so they are all lovely and shiny.

She is cut out, using the out of bounds nestie technique, but if you have good eyes you will see she is missing a tiny corner on the right hand side. I don't know how that happened..must have cut a bit too low down. Ooops!

Anyway, I am soory the photo looks a bit washed out today..blame it on the dank, dreary day!!

The papers are all scraps I am using up out of an older Scrapagogo kit. I was tidying up my papers and bits and pieces in my craft area yesterday, and boy do I have a lot of patterned paper. So, to be accountable and not buy anymore, I showed hubbie and told him I wasn't buying anymore till some of this lovely lot were used up!

Wedding Card - Mojo Monday!

Morning my lovely readers!

My card today is a request from my MIL for her next door neighbour!! She has told her I do cards, so came a request for a wedding card.

I am soooooooooo not sure about doing cards for other folk. I don't know their tastes. Anyway I know they are quite an artistic family so hope the vintagey, shabby look will be appreciated. I hope they won't think I ripped it and got it a bit dirty at the edges! LOL!

This is a variation on card I made several months back, so if you think you have seen it before..you sort of have :) But I have changed bits and added extra bits in!

I have followed the sketch from this weeks Mojo Monday, so will be entering it in there.

Friday Sketchers

Good Morning... and where has our lovely sun gone?? It always happens when the kids finish school doesn't it??? We are having a pyjama morning!! YEAH!! It is nice to kick back and have no routine to follow.

My card today follows the fabulous sketch by Claudia on Friday Sketchers.I have used one of the new Gorjuss girls from collection 3. I just loved this one in the field of flowers. I have used my copics to colour her. I have a very limited selection of colours to use at the moment and I definitely consider myself a beginner. But I just love the vibrancy of colour you get with them.

Miss Gorjuss 3 has been cut out and mounted on foam squares for some dimension.

All my layers are stitched together. To answer some questions I have had regarding my sewing machine. It is a Janome mini and I use it soley for crafts. My hubby once pinched it to stitch a hole in one of his socks and it got mangled up pretty badly. I managed to rescue it with some careful handling! So from now on it is just used for papercrafts.

All the papers are MME 'Bloom and Grow' and I made some distressy type flowers with some of the scraps.

Make a splash at Sketch Saturday!!

Good Afternoon! I'm sneaking onto the computer while the boys are busy playing chess. Would you guess that chess is the hottest thing in my house these days??? They are mad for it ...they play game after game and right now they are out in the sun mastering the intricacies of check mate and stale mate!

Anyway, onto the card! This fabulous image is from Pink Gem Designs and is called Sea Shell Mimi. Isn't she just perfect for summer cards?? I coloured her with prismas and then chalked in the sky with some pearlescent chalk for shimmer. The colours are more vivid in real life..taking piccies outside in the sun seems to wash out the colours a bit.

I was delighted to find some starfish and shell charms lurking in the bottom of a box and they fitted perfectly with this image.

Not much else to say except I followed this weeks Sketch Saturday for my layout! Thanks Gill..it is a goodie!

The Next Level

How are you all??? Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. As my Son has just said to me, we are now in 'holiday mode'! Schools finished here yesterday, so now we have 6 weeks of rest and relaxation! ha ha ha!!

No, I will enjoy the hols and make the most of them. I will hopefully still manage some time to craft in the evening but my days will be filled with picnics and day trips and water fights!! Sounds idyllic eh?? Maybe sometimes it will be!

Onto the card! I made this card folowing the sketch from The Next Level. I decided I hadn't used one of my Sarah Kays stamps in an age, so it got a wee shot out of its box. Coloured with the usual prismas and the edges are inked with Distress Ink 'Tea Dye'.

All of the papers are from my new set from MME 'Wild Asparagus'. They kinda scream 'shabby chic' to me, so that is where I went with this card. A bit of sewing, distressing and lace and pearls and there you have it!

For the first time I used abit of a digital kit on my card. Not as scary as I thought it might be! The butterfly is from a digital kit that Scrapagogo were giving away free to subscribers. Again the edges are inked and I added some Shimmerz to the wings.

Sugar Bowl #14

Good morning everyone! Today is the day for another Sugar Bowl Challenge and this time it is my turn to make the sketch. I hope you like it! I have chosen the extra option of 'sparkle'. You decide in what way you want to add that to your card...bling, H2o's, glimmer mist, stickles...etc

This time the winner will receive the new Mary Hall teenage stamps..all 6!! Wooo Hooo!!

I decided to use my all time favourite Sugar Nellie image 'Daisy'. She is coloured with prismas and I chalked in the sky with some pearlescent chalk. So it has a subtle shimmer. She is cut out with Label 1 nesties. I added a little bling to her hair and to the centre of the flowers...hope you can see it.

I have decorated the insides of this card carrying through the papers and embellishments. The sentiment on the inside is Hero Arts. I am always so pleased when I manage to complete the inside of a card..it feels really finished.

I hope you are coping with this heatwave..we are not accustomed to such heat in the UK and we all wilt. Especially us peely wally Scots. Just a little piccie I thought I would share of my youngest just about to soak his brothers with the hose! Shame I didn't catch a picture of their faces!!

Hello Girlfriend!

Wowee..what a scorcher today! I can't remember being this hot, this early in Aberdeen before!! I'm going to melt! Who can face cleaning and cooking in weather like this??

My card today matches the weather and I'm going to enter it into 2 challenges: Friday Sketchers and A Spoonful Of Sugar where the theme is 'Summer'! Excuse the squinty photo...

The Miss Anya is coloured with prismas and edged with Soft Stone Hero Arts Shadow Ink. The papers are Imaginisce 'Summer Cool' collection. I have used a strip of Jute Ribbon from Nikki's fab online shop and I found this cute little ice-cream charm in one of my Raspberry Ribbon kits.

The flowers are all from my box and the circle sentiment is from Aud Designs.

A quick post today..lots to do as kids finish on Friday for 6 weeks. Lets hope the weather lasts....
