Viva Blog Hop with SCACD!

Good Morning!

I am thrilled to be part of a very special blog hop this morning ! A recent new addition to Quixotic Paperie has been the Viva Decor product line. We have all fallen in love, and so, we're having a little blog hop to celebrate!

Joining the Quixotic Paperie Design Team on this hop we have the fantastic Susana's Custom Art & Card Design Design Team! Susana is a good friend of Elaine's and SCACD has become like an international sister store to Quixotic Paperie! We're collaborating on some crafty adventures, and this is hopefully the first of many!

We hope you will join us on this hop and be inspired in ways to use the Viva Decor product range! You will also have the chance to win some fabulous candy - both Elaine and Susana will be giving away a pack of the most popular Viva Decor Pens (Ice White Pearl Pen, Holographic Glitter Liner and the Clear Gloss Gel Pen).
All you will have to do to win is answer a question at each store blog - 1 entry at each STORE blog per person please! Both blog candy draws will close on 31st July 2010.
In the UK/Europe you can find Viva Decor products at Quixotic Paperie. If you're in the US/Canada then Susana carries the Viva Decor range at Susana's Custom Art & Card Design.

ON TO THE HOP!You should have hopped over here from Aud. If not, you might want to pop over to the Quixotic Paperie Store Blog and start from the beginning!

For this special hop I chose to use one of my favourite Kraftin Kimmmie stamps 'Charlotte' (She is is also available in SCACD for those in the US!). Charlotte was the first Kraftin Kimmie I bought but is still one of my favourites! I coloured her with copics and used prisma pencils and Sansador to blend in the background.
The papers are Pink Paislee '365 Degrees' and I have gently distressed the edges.

The VIVA products I have used are the Black Pearl pen and the Holo Irisdescent Glitter Liner (Viva Glitter Liner and Pearl pens are available in the US at Susana's Custom Art & Card Design). Both of these are fab and easy products to use and now sit within easy reach on my crafting table!
You can also find the stamp I used today at Susana's Custom Art & Card Design.

Your next stop on the hop is DANNI.

Thanks for your visit today!

Quixotic Paperie - Miniatures

Good afternoon and it is the middle of the week so that means it is time for another Quixotic Challenge!

This week the fabulously talented Kim Costello has picked the theme of miniatures. You have to make small cards or notecards no bigger then three inches!I decided I would use some of the Word Art/ Sentiments images I have from Paper Makeup Stamps. If you haven't seen these before they have a great variety of funny, inspirational, encouraging and scriptural sayings and verses. One for every occasion!
They are just perfect for adorning little mini notecards. I stamped the word art and the cut it out with nesties and matted with black cardstock. The base of my cards are 3 inches by 3inches and are made with Kraft cardstock. The papers are Tim Holtz 'Lost and Found' collection.I then used a teeny strip of brown Prima Lace along the bottom and a couple of Prima Mini Roses to finish!
I hope you will have the time to try out some miniatures this week!

Have a great day!

Sugar Nellie ...Just for fun!

Good Morning!!! Hope you have had a restful and relaxing weekend and are ready for a productive week ahead! I sure am!

Lots to do this week...we are going away for a couple of weeks, at the weekend, to Berwick-upon-Tweed for an family holiday....wooooo ! I can't wait to chill out!

My plans are to get all my DT stuff done and dusted by the middle of the week and then pack, clean and organise at the end! I hope it will work out like that :)

I have made a card this weekend for no reason and to fit no challenge...just for fun! I got my new Magnolia Doo Hickeys (spelling??) dies through this post last week and thought it would be fun to have a play.
So I had this Gorjuss Girl 'Miss Attitude' all coloured up ...just ready to go on a card. She is coloured with prisma pencils and a little 'Spun Sugar' Distress Ink for the edges of the image.
I then used Echo Park 'A Walk in the Park' ( available at Quixotic Paperie) papers along with a few flowers from my stash , ribbon, and of course my new flourish die from Magnolia. This is my new favourite flourish...I love it!

no sentiment on this will be adapted for whichever occasion it is needed.

Thanks for popping by.

Your visit and time is much appreciated.

I will be back tomorrow with a card featuring one of the new Mangas from Sugar Nellie, which will be released very soon :)

Altered box!

I am having fun playing with paints and trying out a few different things.

Making cards is my first love but sometimes it is good to branch out a little.

Now I bought this cute little Heart shaped box from Quixotic Paperie and then painted it with white acrylic paint.
I inked the edges ever so slightly with 'Tea dye' Distress Ink and then added some peach adhesive pearls all around the base.

The flower was made by the lovely Julie and I bought it from her Etsy shop ages ago and it was just waiting for the perfect project to go onto :)

So all in all a few minutes work from start to finish.

I am going to be working on a few of these boxes for my Folksy and Etsy shop. I will be playing about with grunge paper and getting inky for the next ones!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Sugar Bowl 39 - Lilian's Sketch

Good morning! Thanks for coming by to visit my little blog this morning!

Today is a Sugar Bowl day :) This week the lovely Lilian has given us a sketch to play with and the extra option of BLUE.

The prize this week is a set of the fabulous new Sugar Nellie Manga's due to be released next weekend! So you will be one of the first to get hold of them, plus a set of new Letraset Aqumarkers. Now isn't that a great prize??

For my card today I chose a Manga from the last release 'Rock Idol' and coloured him with copics. I have deepened some of the shading with prisma pencils, for example, on the trousers.

For my blue option I went with a deep kind of turquoise blue....and used the fabulous new Basic Grey 'Oliver', available from Quixotic Paperie. It has these great shades just right for a man/boy cards.

The card is fairly simply embellished. I did a bit of gentle distressing, added some ribbon twill, a guitar charm, some brads and little metal fasteners.

Thanks for popping by today. I hope you have time to check out the other girls gorgeous cards on the Sugar Bowl blog and of course have time to join in yourself !

Have a great day,
Judy x

Quixotic Paperie - Photo Inspiration

Good afternoon and welcome to my little 'ol blog! It is Wednesday so that means it is time for a Quixotic Challenge. This week Simonne has chosen a photo for your inspiration. I love it perfect for this time of year ! Go check it out on the blog and all the other DT inspiration!

So for my card I chose to pick out the colours, also the polka dots on the cushion and the funky flowers from the screen in the background.

Foe the image I used the latest release from the Greeting Farm called 'Oliver and Amelia -Journey'. It is coloured with prisma pencils. In hindsight I think it might have looked better with copics. I think the card is oozing brightness and vibrancy which copics are definitely more suited for.

The papers are the new Echo Park 'A Walk in the Park' . For the finishing touches I added some adhesive pearls around the image, a ribbon bow and some pins and finally a Tim Holtz sentiment ticket.

Thanks for stopping by today. I am sorry I am not finding the time to comment on all your lovely blogs so much these days. With the summer holidays it is lovely to spend time with the boys and not on the PC and that is the way it should be. I appreciate each and every one of you who takes the time to leave a comment. I really do!

We have been out in the garden lots, teaching them how to play badminton and helping my youngest ride without could be a long process! LOL! Today we head for day trip to Glasgow to meet up with the boys Great Grandma who is 87 and has bravely made it to Scotland from deepest darkest Leicester!

Finally I was challenged by Karen ( Mrs. Sugar Nellie) to show you my desk. I have shyed away from this before now because I do not have a lovely fitted out craft room.....just a dining table !! But maybe many of you out there can relate. I have over the last few months managed to claim part of the boys 'Family room' where they play the Wii and build train tracks. Now I have a little corner of this room which I mainly use for storage.
So the photo above shows you my dining table. On it you can see all my colouring precious pencils and copics. You can also see a door hanger I am part way through altering and a Sugar Nellie image I have coloured in pencil....they will be featuring in a finished form on my blog soon...I hope.....I like being at the dining table as it is on open plan with the living room so I am part of the action while I am crafting and hubbie can hear me when I yell for a glass of wine ;)
The next photo shows my storage in the 'Family Room'. I have a lovely chest of drawers in which I have punches, flower, ribbon, inks, and the plastic drawers (photo below) to the left have all my stamp collections! On the top is a set of drawers from Ikea I altered a couple of years ago si is getting abit tatty. It holds buttons, paints, stickles, etc etc The woven basket is my basket of cards...ready to go...So thanks for sticking with me....

Back soon!

Something a little bit different!

Morning folks! As the children are away till tomorrow I have had a little more time to play creatively. Sometimes I don't have the energy or the time to try something new. So this week I have pulled out my paints and tried out doing some altering.

Now this project is one that I saw in a recent edition of Craft Stamper and thought it looked beautiful. I have had this little trinket box form Craft Barn lying about for ages and decided it was going to get the altered treatment first!

So to start I painted a base coat of paint using Claudine Hellmuth Acrylic Paints. I used Sky Blue. Then once that is dry you add a layer of PVA glue and then quickly before it dries, add your top layer of acrylic paint. I used white. As the PVA glue dries it contracts and it brings the top layer with it and creates this lovely old distressed look.

I then stamped with Staz-On ink some flowers and then a grunge paper butterfly and an SU metal frame.

I will definitely be doing this again and maybe with some different colours!

This little box will be winging its way over to my Folksy and Etsy shops later this morning!

Before I go I will leave you with some news from the Quixotic Paperie.

The SALE section over at Quixotic Paperie has been updated with lots of products! Have a peek - you never know what you might find in there!

Plus, we have a selection of special offers just for the weekend! Between now and Midnight (UK time) on Sunday 11th July 2010 you can enjoy the following offers!

Be quick! The sale section is all "while stocks last" and the special weekend offers end on Sunday!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Sugar Nellie - Manga girl #2

Morning folks! How are you?

I just wanted to share with you a very quick card today. I have joined a challenge over on Folksy to list a new item every day for a month! Eeeek! I have done one every day so far.......but it is only the 8th of the month. Can I do it for the whole month?? I will let you know! It doesn't mean I will be blogging every day....but I do have lots of cards in my box that I have never listed in my shop so now it is time to dust them off, take piccies and see if they will sell! This card will be in my shop shortly!

Today I have used a gorgeous Manga image from Sugar Nellie.....coloured with go to colouring medium! The papers are all MME 'So Sophie' collection and I have kept it simple with lots of scrappy style layering. Look no sewing machie! The flowers are all punched with the medium and small retor flower punches and then I have used Viva Decor Pearl Pen, available form Quixotic Paperie, for the centre of the flowers. Easy flows so smoothly and makes perfect pearls with no effort.

Thanks for stopping by!

Back soon,

Quixotic Challenges - Pretty Pearls

Good afternoon and welcome to another Quixotic Challenge! Where oh where do the weeks go? I can't believe this is the first time I have had a chance to share something this week!

This week Kim has chosen the theme of 'Pretty Pearls' for our projects - use pearls in your project/card in some way (flat back pearls, pearl pens and paints, pearl beads etc etc).

So nice and easy! It would be great to have you join us and you would be in with a chance of winning the monthly draw of a fabulous Quixotic Paperie voucher!

My card today features one of the gorgeous new images from Belle's and Whistles called a 'A Child's Prayer' I have stamped the image onto cream cardstock ( for a wee change!) and coloured with prisma pencils. I want a soft gentle look for this image and I have coloured the edges of the image with some chalk.

The papers are all from the new range from Echo Park called 'A Walk in the Park'. I have painted the edges with Distress Paint, added a punched flower, a punched border, some stain ribbon, a few Jenni Bowlin pins and some adhesive pearls!

I even managed to decorate the inside of this card! I have used the same papers etc and the sentiment is from Verve stamps and fitted this image perfectly!

If anyone fancies this card it will be for sale in my Folksy shop (for UK) customers or my Etsy shop for everywhere else!

Thanks for popping along!

Enjoy the rest of your week. I am busy getting lots of jobs done while the children are at their Granny and Grandpa's for a couple of days! Bliss!!!

Hopefully I will have the time to post a couple more cards this week before the mayhem returns :)

Back soon, Judy xx

Sugar Nellie and Trinkettes!

Morning all! Well that is it. The boys have their bags packed and marched off to school for the last time for 6 weeks.
Tomorrow I will encourage them to sleep past 6:30 am! 8:00am would be perfect! What are the chances???

Anyway, today I want to get the house ship shape before chaos reigns!

But before that I want to share with you the last of the teacher's gifts I made. Again, I made one of the gorgeous 'Trinkettes' charm braclets, available from Funky Kits, which took me, oooooohhhh maybe all of 5 minutes to put together! Put it in a pretty bag and voila!

The card is made using on of the gorgeous Sugar Nellie images from the Sweet Art Ebony collection. I have had this image for ever in my collection but I love the motion of the wind in her hair. Just gorgeous!

I used shades of blue and brown prisma pencil to colour her and then used some of the stunning paper from the Ella Blue collection from G.C.D Studios. I wasn't going to stitch this one together as I was putting it together quite last minute, but then it looked very bare to it got the sewing machine treatment!! To finish I added a Cats Life sentiment, a stain ribbon bow, flower and a couple of pins!

I am quite happy with this happy that I made 2 of them! One to give away and one to put in my Etsy shop!! :) It will be listed in there shortly!

Thanks for your time today! I love reading all your comments and they are very much appreciated.

Hope you have a fabulous Friday!
