Sugar Bowl Challenge - Shabby Chic!

We are back with another Sugar Bowl Challenge. This week Kathy has drawn the sketch and has chosen the option of Shabby Chic.....a great excuse to get a bit inky and do some distressing!

I picked a Gorjuss Girl as I thought she would look great with the shabby look!

I used Kraft card stock as my main base and then used my Distress Crackle paint to smear roughly around the edges of the card. I then found this small piece of pink gingham and gave it the distress treatment. I have lost me wee Tim Holtz tool for distressing, so the scissors just had to do. I tore a piece out of an old book ( don't tell my hubbie or he would have a fit!!), scrunched it and then distressed it with ink. Again the piece of cardboard got a smearing of paint.

I had a lot of fun with this one!!

The image was coloured with pencils, apart from the skin tones where I used copics.

Quixotic Challenges - One for the Boys!

Welcome to this weeks Quixotic Challenge and this week it was my turn to chose the challenge and I have chosen 'One for the Boys!'. You can choose to make a card /project/layout that is suitable for the men or boys!

I know a lot of you dread this...having to put away the frill and the sparkle...but I enjoy the challenge of making something more masculine for a change! I hope you will too and find the time to join us!

I have chosen to colour one of the Greeting Farm Ian stamps. He is coloured with prisma pencils with copics for the skin tones.

Now for the rest of this card I got very painty and inky.The background is a piece of sticky back canvas painted with blue acrylic paint. I then stamped the wall background onto it once it had dried. The chipboard bracket and letters I then painted red, so they could co-ordinate with each other. I found a couple of screw brads and added the 'dude' sentiment with my tape writer.

Voila!

I love the bright colours on this one...thanks to my new Claudine Hellmuth acrylic paints! They are just fabulous to work with.

I am kicking myself I didn't get myself more when they were on offer on QVC yesterday. Did anyone else watch Tim?? I watched it in the evening when everything of his had run out so he was ending up using Kanban papers!! Poor guy!

You Lift Me Up!

Afternoon bloggers!

What a stunning day it is here! Sun, snow and blue blue sky! Shame it freezes your little tootsies off! It was -9 degrees this morning!

I just want to first of all say a big hello to my new followers :) Nice to have you! I seemed to have gained a few since the blog hop on Saturday.

The card I have to share is a nice bright happy one! The image is one of the new Kraftin Kimmie stamps drawn by the wonderfully talented Jean Grant.This one is from the Cindy and Mindy collection and not surprisingly is called 'You Lift Me Up.' You can get these stamps if you are in the UK at the Quixotic Paperie. I adore this cute fun image and decided to use my copics to colour this one...I wanted a vibrant colourful look , after my grungy distressed one on Saturday. ( oops look...I forgot to colour the shoes...LOL)

What I like about the these images is that you get a sentiment thrown in with the image...saves you hunting around for just the right one....which can sometimes take me a loooong time!

Now the theme of today is using an 'old' stamp...now that is funny because Sugar Nellie is only 2 years old! But it is good fun to get some of our dusty, neglected stamps out from the back of the cupboard.

Now I have decided to colour 'Little Artist' from the Home Grown range and if you leave a comment below I will be picking a winner and you will be in with a chance of receiving this cute little fella' all for yourself! You Guys Are Amazing!!

You guys are amazing!

I mean that!! When I first blogged about taking stuff out for the ladies in the Philippines I thought I would be lucky to receive one or two parcels.

I have on average about 4 or 5 arriving daily!! The postie is very bemused :)

Thank you to everyone who has sent in a parcel and who has offered to send one! I am thrilled
with the response. I can now safely say my suitcase is full! To all of you who have offered to send in something, please feel free to do so, I am just going to close this now and not take any more new offers. I wish I could take more but we have to be realistic and take what we can carry!!

I have filled one suitcase and am now filling a large holdall with what I can't fit in the first suitcase!

I know my sister and the ladies will be thrilled when they see the suitcase. I have so many lovely stamps, flowers, ribbons, embellishments and papers. It is going to keeping them going for a while!!

I am going to wait a couple of weeks for the last of the parcels that have been offered to arrive. I have been taking a note of every parcel that arrives and I will get one of my kids to pick a random name out of the 'hat' at the end of Feb.

For the blog candy I have 5 of the new Mary Hall stamps from Sugar Nellie and I will throw in some papers and embellies with that! I am soooo appreciative of you all!

Quixotic Challenges - Mother's Day

Afternoon all! I hope you are well! How are all you Mum's coping with half term?? Our kids go back to school tomorrow but we have enjoyed quite a rlalxing time..lots of lego building, DVD's and visitors!

Onto the business of the day..it is Wednesday so that means it is time for another Quixotic Challenge. This week Rowena has set the theme of Mother's Day. So create a card, project or gift for a Mum and you can be in with a chance to win this month's fabulous prize!

I coloured a Miss Anya..one of the very first! I adore them..so easy to colour. She is coloured with prisma pencils and I used copics for the skin. The papers are all MME 'Wild Asparagus'.

I followed this weeks sketch form Everybody Art Challenge and have incorporated a pull-out tag. Just a simple one....with a few pieces of co-ordinating ribbon and some aplhabet thickers.
This is a wee piccie of the inside. I used a sentiment from Paper Makeup Stamps that is available in Quixotic Paperie. Just lovely isn't it?

Sugar Nellie DT-April Showers

Good Morning! I hope you are not fed up of seeing my Manga cards??? I really think this new release from Sugar Nellie has some real beauties!!

I haven't made an easel card in a while so thought I would do one for today! This morning Janny, Dena and myself are all colouring up April Showers and you can see what we have all done with the same image! I love both of those girlies work...they always inspire me :) Make sure you pop by their blogs for a look and see what they have done with this image!

I have coloured April Showers with prisma pencils. I need to work a little on the settings on my camera as it is washing out my colouring quite a bit. It looks richer and warmer in real life!

I have followed the sketch on this week's Mojo Monday...it just got me all inspired yesterday. I ahd to start right away! For this card I have used only 1 12 x 12 sheet of MME paper ! Qutte a feat for me....usually I have scraps lying all over the place.

Sweet Baby!

Good morning folks! How are we all this Monday morning? We have had a lovely weekend..with a mixture of spending time with friends and relaxing around the house. The boys are on holiday for half-term , so we are going to try and take it easy. We might just have to as the snow is forecast for the rest of this week..bleugh!


Anyway my card today is for my lovely friend and Sugar bowl buddy Gayle on the birth of her beautiful baby girl Maya. I am so happy for her and thrilled she arrived safely :)

My card uses a Mo Manning image from the Diaper Crew set and she is of course coloured with copics. I have used prisma pencils for the background..... though it hasn't come out too well in the photo.

The papers are DCWV 'Nana's Nursery' stack...my go to collection for baby cards!

I am delighted to join in a challenge for the first time in yonks. I have followed this weeks Friday Sketchers layout! YEAH!! Thanks guys for the great inspiration.

I made another one of these cards because I love it so much, so one will be getting listed in my Etsy shop later today!

For my card today I have used the gorgeous new Manga image called 'Dreamy'. She is gorgeous...one of my favourites. I have coloured her with prisma pencil and have used copics for the skin. I find nothing beats the copics for a good skin colour! ( E000, E00, E11, R20)

The papers are all from a K& Co pad 'Wild Raspberry' and the sentiment is a rub-on.

Quixotic Challenges # 13 - 'Tag it!'

Well I can't believe it is Wednesday already!! The week is just flying past......

Today is another Quixotic Challenge and this week it is Carole's turn and she has chosen the theme of 'Tag It!' - 'Use a or tag in your card or project or create a tag'.

So I decided to incorporate a pull out tag within my card. I received some of these fabulous , quirky Steampunk images from Kraftin' Kimmie in my DT kit this month. I picked out Genevieve from the new Moonlight Whispers collection. She is coloured with copic markers. For the background to the image I used prisma pencils and mineral spirits..

The papers are from a Scrapagogo kit ( which means they are from a variety of companies). I have stitched around the layers and distressed the edges. For the tag I used some vinyl thickers and some mini alphas to create the sentiment. I have added quite a few stickers to embellish the card...not something I do often but it feels good to use up some old stash!

Sugar Nellie DT - Coffee Time

Hello everyone! Hope you are all well!

Thanks for popping by today! I have a card to show you featuring another of the new Manga kids from Sugar Nellie. She is called Coffee Time and is coloured with my trusty pencils :))

I have been raiding some old scrap bags of paper for my latest cards. I really want to use up some of my lovely papers. So these ones that I have used today are from Lily Bee. Can't remember where on earth I got them from !! I just like the colour combo when I was rummaging.

For the flowers I have used a Martha Stewart Hydrangea punch and added a spacer and brads to the centre of the flowers. I can see from my photo that the ribbon is beginning to need a little more glue to hold it on properly!! LOL! How come you only see your mistakes when it is posted on a photo!!

Right tee hoo...lots to tidy and clean today before the whirlwinds arrive home from school before the weekend.

Quixotic Paperie - #12

Good afternoon and welcome to another week of Quixotic Challenges. This week the challenge is ' I Believe In Fairies'. The challenge is to incorporate fairies into your project.

For this challenge, we in the DT all kindly received a Sweet November Fairy image from CC Designs. I received 'Tangle Goblinshimmer'.

I have to admit this image is slightly out of my comfort zone...I am not a big fairy person but when coloured up the image really comes to life, especially when you can add a bit of glitter!!
I coloured the image with prisma pencils and mineral spirits and added some sparkle for the wings. The papers are from Webster's Pages and the buttons are from my collection!!The pearl swirls are prima and the metal corner is Tim Holtz.

Sugar Nellie DT - 'Sitting Pretty'

Good afternoon,

I am back as promised with a new Manga from Sugar Nellie. Aren't these new ones just so adorable??

I have coloured 'Sitting Pretty' with copic markers. I just loved the size of this one. I would say she is a little larger than my other older manga's but I love it where the image takes centre stage and you can really concentrate on making her stand out.


I have used lots of scraps of Bo Bunny paper and matted with black. I have also used my new MS loop punch..I have been eyeing that one up for ages and finally found it in stock !! Yippee!!

My little black flowers are made from medium and small retro flower punches and I was inspired by Bev's tutorial on Whiff of Joy...so they are scrunched and slightly distressed with some sandpaper.
Funky Kits also have all the new mary Hall images in stock...shall have a card with one of those cute images to show you soon!

Thanks for popping by today! I am thrilled to have some parcels of stash arriving through the post to take out to the Philippines. The suitcase is coming out the loft when hubbie comes home so I can start packing and organising it. I spoke to my sister today to let her know about it. She is thrilled and really excited!

You're out of this world!

Before I chat about the card, I want to tell you how overwhelmed I am at the response to my crafty stash appeal for the ladies of Yunik Crafts. I really do think I am going to be taking 2 suitcases at this rate. But Norman, my husband, and I are really committed to taking it all out however much crafty stash we receive. the poor posite isn't going to know what has hit him!!

I had someone e-mail and ask if old stamps were ok. I just want to say that that is all I was expecting. I was not expecting new stamps. Old stamps stamp just the same...!!

Now my card today claims no originality of my own. I saw this card a few weeks ago on Amy Scheffer's blog 'Pickled Paper Designs' and knew that I wanted to CASE it. So I finally got a chance to have a go at it this weekend.

I think she is my hero of card-making. She does so many different styles perfectly and her work is always flawless!

I ordered the robot stamp from MFT stamps in the US and it arrived within the week and the shipping was very reasonable. I love their fun ranges and fab sentiments to go match. I think i will be back there again!

The papers are a mix and match from various collections and Mr. Robot is coloured with prisma pencils. The sentiment comes as part of the set.


This is just a quick hello today! I will be back tomorrow with a card showing you one of the new Sugar Nellie manga's! They are fabulous :))
