Quixotic paperie #23 - How Distressing!

Good afternoon everyone. Today I am back with a card to show you for this weeks Quixotic Challenge. Simonne our newest DT member has chosed the theme of Distressing..so please make sure you incorporate some distressing techniques into your card.

Did you know that Elaine is now stocking Mo's Rubber stamps from Stamping Bella in her store??...so if you love Mo's images ( don't we all??) and love rubba..then go check out the newest arrivals in Quixotic Paperie.

I have chosen to colour Angelina's Balloons which just happens to be one of the new arrivals! I have used quite a few colouring mediums on this card...copics, pencils and chalk! Copics for the skin and hair, pencils for her dress and the grass and finally chalks for the background!

The papers are from Cosmo Cricket 'Material Girl' which have all been distressed on the edges. the sentiment is Hero Arts.

Diane Duda - Accordian Card

I just wanted to show you one of the cards that we made last night at my class at Simply Create. I chose to make an accordian card using some of the fabulous Diane Duda images from Sugar Nellie.

One of the main aims of my class is to teach techniques and tips with the prismacolor pencils so I wanted to show that pencils can also give you bright vibrant images as well as softer more muted tones. I showed them how to colour black hair, create the grass effect, create a subtle sky background and create contrast and shading on an image. The ladies there took to it like ducks to water!

Jacqui gave me some of the new MME 'Jack and Jill' papers to work with which are full of bright fun colours and then I followed the tutorial by Inge on the Whiff of Joy Inspirations blog to create the accordian card. The sentiment is from Paper Makeup Stamps which are available from Quixotic Paperie.

Sugar Bowl #34 - Tiet's Sketch

Hellllooooo everyone! Sorry about the lateness of my Sugar Bowl card. It has been a trying few days on the phone to my internet provider. Having been without internet access for a few days now it seems have miraculously fixed itself, so I will make the most of it...it could disappear any minute!

Anyway this week we have a super sketch from Tiet's. Lots of layers...my favourite!! She has included the extra option of punches...now that isn't too hard is it??

If you take part in this challenge you are in with a great chance of winning all 6 brand new Mangas! Now we in the DT haven't seen them yet!!

So onto my card! I have chosen to use one of my favourite Diane Duda images called Upside Down. I have coloured her with prisma pencils. The papers are all MME 'Jack and Jill' collection. I have used 3 sizes of circle punch to create my lollipop flower and added a vintage button to the centre. finally just a little touch of hand stitching to finish!

Quixotic Paperie #22 - Make a Splash

Good afternoon!

My apologies for being a little quiet this week! Firstly I am having some internet issues...sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't..... mostly it doesn't!!

I am also this week working towards a magazine deadline next week and also samples for my class at Simply Create on Monday evening. So right now I am catching up big time behind the scenes!!

Well today is Wednesday and that means it is time for another Quixotic Challenge and this week Elaine has set us the challenge of 'Making a Splash'.

So I used one of the new images from Belles and Whistles called 'Tubewear' which is available from Quixotic Paperie. She is coloured with copics and then cut out. The backgrouns is done with chalks and a scalloped circle to mask off the shape of the clouds. To make the water I just ripped up several pieces of core'dinations cardstock.

I kept the rest of the card fairly simple....a little bit of stitching and a few adhesive pearls!

Sugar Nellie DT - Bluebell

Hello! Good morning to you all!

Today I have to show you another of the stunning new releases from Sugar Nellie. It is my mistake in my last post..they ARE actually on sale now! Doh! Blame it on the jet lag ! You can find them on sale here. Aren't they just gorgeous???

This stunning stamp is called Bluebell. I have coloured her with copics and I will leave a list at the bottom of the exact colours I have used. I stamped her and then made a mess of blending some inks for the background so ta dah..she is now cut out!! I quite like it that way now!

The papers I have used are T!m Holtz new line of Vintage Shabby. I bought these from the Quixotic Paperie. I just couldn't resist!

My card also features a flower made from some Hero Arts flower stamps, a little bit of random zig zag stitching and a sentiment from SU!We are off for the day for a picnic with friends to celebrate their little boy's 2nd birthday and our Peter's 4th birthday! Let's hope the sun stays out!

Sugar Nellie DT - Leanne Ellis

On my return home there was a lovely surprise waiting for me in my in-box. Karen has sent us the new images from Leanne Ellis. These are brand new and as yet unreleased from Sugar Nellie....so keep your eyes peeled!

There is a lovely mixture of cute and arty in this new batch to be released. My personal favs are the more arty style...just feels like I can create a card that is a bit more grown -up.
So my image is coloured with prisma pencils apart from the skin tones which are copics. Don't you love all the layers on the skirt?? The papers are all scraps from Little Yellow Bicycle. I am always glad to use up scraps! It helps clear up some of the clutter! I am very much in spring clean mode at the moment.....if it lies about too long it might just end up in the bin or being recycled!Thanks for popping by. Quixotic Challenges #21 - Heavy Metal

Hey!

It is great to be back and showing you a card....I thought I would start with a nice simple layout to ease me in gently after a month off!

It is Wednesday so that means it is time for another Quixotic Challenge and this week Kim has chosen the theme of 'Heavy Metal'...so you can use pins, charms, hinges, foil..anything metal on your card. I have chosen to incorporate some eyelets, charms and hinges!

My image is one of 'Chrissy's Cuties' called Gone Fishin' from Kimmies Stamps range and I have coloured this gorgeous image with prisma pencils. This image also comes with 2 sentiments in the set. I think that is great because so often I can spend loads of time rummaging around for just the right sentiment but these ones come supplied! The edges are sponged with Old Paper Distress Ink. My photography has washed out the colour a little..need to work on fixing that!!

There is very little designer paper on this card but the little I have used is from the new Crate Paper range available from Quixotic Paperie. The mesh I got in the Philippines..in a little bookstore that Lilian took me and my sister too where I found a few goodies to take home :)

I also wanted to let you know that for this week there will be 10% off all charms, pins, spacers, jewels, pearls and Prima flower centres from Wednesday 14th April 2010 to Wednesday 21st April 2010 at the Quixotic Paperie.

I'm home!

Hellllloooooooooo! I'm back!

I'm sad and happy to be home from our wonderful trip of a lifetime to the Philippines! We had a great time with my sister and her family and really enjoyed experiencing the Filipino culture.

I won't bore you with all my pictures but I will pick a few to show you. If you would like to see more photos please e-mail me and I will add you as a facebook friend where you can view all 200+ of them and you will get a flavour of our trip!

I wanted to pick out the ones of where all the crafty goodies you donated are being put to use!

The ladies were so excited to receive all the stamps, papers, flowers and embellishments. My sister and I spent several evenings looking through and sorting everything into boxes before we took it down to the ladies and 2 men who work everyday at the livelihood project.

They work there everyday and make cards so they can be sold and this is their only source of income. They make about 10-12 cards a day. So everything that was donated helps them out as all their resources have to be bought out of their profit.

I also was honoured to be able to take a class with everyone who worked their and help them with their colouring skills. They were so attentive and eager to learn.
So thank you once again to everyone who took the time to put together a parcel and send it to me! Everything arrived safe and sound and is now being put to very good use on a small island in the Philippines!And before I go...I also on our last night in the Philippines had the very great pleasure of meeting Lilian! For those of you who don't know Lilian...she is the VERY best copic colour-er I know!! Imagine being able to go all round the world and meet a fellow blogger and card maker. It was really special to meet her and get to know her better. Salamat Po Lilian....the meal was masarap!
