Quixotic Challenges - My Sketch!

Good afternoon and today sees the return of the Quixotic Challenges! Yeah! We have had a little creative break and are back with some revised rules and guidelines. I hope they are clear and simple to use and understand! We would love to have you come and join us :)

This week it was my turn and I made a sketch fro you all to try out !

My card today features 'Little Danni' from SCACD available from Quixotic Paperie. She is coloured with prismacolour pencils and copics for the skin tones. I cut her out using a nesties die and then inked around the edges with 'Wild Honey' distress ink. To finish off I glittered around the edges using a new product available at Quixotic Paperie. I have used one of Viva Decor's Glitter Liners. It is so easy to use, with a fine nib point you can create lines with ease and it dries quickly. I know I won't be messing about with stickles anymore ! The papers are Basic Grey 'Capella' collection. The flower are a combination from Wild Orchid Crafts and from Quixotic Paperie. The little pearl spray is from Quixotic Paperie as well as the brown Prima E-line flowers.

Thanks for your time today!

Back tomorrow!

Creative Cardmaking #17 - Simply Stamping with the Gorjuss girls

Good morning and apologies for my absence! I have had a lovely weekend with my family, who have been staying with us, having BBQ's and going for walks. Not a stamped image in sight :0

Out now!I have written a feature with some of the Gorjuss Girls from Sugar Nellie using prismacolor pencils and the gorgeous new Fancy Pants papers 'Rusted Sun' available from Quixotic Paperie.

If you have not yet seen it, it has some lovely features in it each month and there are always some really good quality papers for you to use in each issue, with some ideas for inspiration. I always love the articles by Kirsty Wiseman! So I have included a few sneaky peeks of the cards here for you to whet your appetite! Go and see if you can get your copy at your local craft store!

Stamping Bella! - Globetrotta Bella

Happy Friday to you all!

I just wanted to share with you a card that has been on my desk for over a week now. It has been put together a little bit each day and finally last night I nailed it! I have been soooooo tired in the evenings lately (which is my prime crafting time) that I just haven't been able to lift a finger.

So i bought these Bella's .....ooooo.....maybe over a year ago and this is the first time I have inked one of them up. Other things have just always been taking priority. So I was happy to colour in Globetrotta Bella with copics. So quick and easy...not much to it at all!

Papers are gorgeous new ones from Bo Bunny. The flowers and pearl flourish are from Quixotic Paperie and all the rest of the embellies are from my stash! The sentiment was a freebie with a past Scrapagogo kit.

Thanks for popping by to say 'Hello' today!

Have a wonderful weekend one and all!

Judy x

Oh P.S. Hubbie loved his Chiminea and spent the evening outside with his fire, a book and a glass of wine. I was cold so I crafted and watched him through the patio doors :)

Sugar Bowl 37 - Marlene's Sketch

Good morning and welcome to another Sugar Bowl Challenge!

What was I thinking ??? A Christmas Card in June!!!

Well
, I was looking around my vast collection of Sugar Nellie stamps and this image just kind of jumped out at me! And I thought 'Why not?' ..... it fits with the sketch and a girl can never make too many Christmas cards eh???So I coloured the image with prisma pencils ....though I think I will go back and add a little more shading and contrast onto her coat. Not enough depth me thinks! The papers are all MME 'So Sophie' collection and I used my Tim Holtz Scallop Edge die to create the border. I found the snowflakes in my Christmas box..all yummy and glittery and sparkly. I left a little room on the bottom right corner for a sentiment. I am really short on Christmas sentiment...so I will be on the look out for some in the near future.

I just love the little mini sprays from Quixotic Paperie.....this one looks very Christmassy don't you think? And it totally matches the pattern on the bottom layer of patterned paper...which of course I have totally covered up!

Anyway, I hope you have time to join in with this fabulous challenge! Marlene has chosen the extra theme of 'Girly'......which I think is a pretty easy one for most of us!

And one very lucky winner will receive 6 fabulous Sugar Nellie stamps AND a set of nestabilities! WOW!! So make sure you drop by the Sugar Bowl and take a look at the other sweeties work....totally inspirational and then have a go yourself!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Have a super day! It is hubbies Birthday today and we bought him a Chimenea for the garden. So I think we might be out tonight sitting by the patio while he does manly stuff like chop wood and make fire!

Hugs to you!

Hello guys! I have been absent for a few days.....June is a busy month isn't it?? I know everyone else finds that too. So my posts will be less frequent I am sure for the next couple of weeks.

But it is all good stuff...sports days, trips to be with friends, taking classes, family visiting and dare I mention I should be getting to grips with what is looking more and more of a jungle...our garden!! Maybe if the sun would come out I might feel more in the mood. My parents arrive home on Thursday from South America, (where they live and work), for a couple of months and I think they hope they are arriving for British Summer Time. I have warned them to bring jumpers and jackets!Anyway very quickly, this card is a custom request for an Etsy customer and I had the opportunity to use one of the lovely hAnglar stamps I won in Elaine's blog candy. The image is coloured with pencils and stickles for wings. The papers are Fancy Pants 'Rusted Sun' available from the Quixotic Paperie. Just fabulous summer colours! I love this collection!

The sentiment is from Waltzing Mouse and the flowers are prima !

Thanks for popping by!

Catch you soon!

Sugar Nellie - Leanne Ellis

Morning everyone! Well what a dreich week it has been here! No sun.....at all :(

It is looking better for the weekend which is always a bonus. I am off to St.Andrews with some girly friends for a lovely day out with good food, good company and hopefully lots of good chat! I am really looking forward to it, while hubbie holds the fort with the kids!

I want to show you today the 2nd instalment of the cards I will be doing with my class at Simply Create on Mon night ( June 14th). I am using another stunning Sugar Nellie image from Leanne Ellis called 'Wild Rose'.The image is again coloured with prisma pencils and once finished I have spritzed the whole image with Pearl Glimmer Mist.
Now this card shape is called a z-fold card and i saw the idea on the Whiff of Joy Inspirations blog. It is very simple to make. You need a normal 12 x 12 card base. Score at 3 inches and then at 6 inches to created your z-fold.The papers are the same as the card I showed you on Monday, MME 'So Sophie' collection and I have used the same techniques as on that card where I painted the edges with Distress Crackle Paint.

Thanks for popping by today! If you live in the Aberdeenshire area and would like to come and make these 2 cards and are free on Monday night don't hesitate to get in touch with Jacqui! (01975564010)

Back soon,

Quixotic Challenge # 26 - Fold It

Yeah ..it is Wednesday and that means it is time for another Quixotic Challenge. This week Rowena has chosen the theme of 'Fold It' -create a something with more than one fold (e.g. fancy fold cards or boxes etc)
So for today I decided to make a Gatefold card. I haven't made one of those in an absolute age. I used the brand new stamps from The Greeting Farm called 'My Favourite Thing' . The set arrives with 2 images stamps and 4 sentiments! The image is coloured entirely with copics. I will post a list of the ones used at the bottom of the post. I tried for the very first time the dotty background technique. It was so simple to do..not sure about it yet, but it might grow on me ! But is nice to try something new. And I added stickles to the stars and the cupcake in her hair ! LOL!

The papers are from Pink Paislee '365 degrees' collection and come in 6 x6 pads and are available in Quixotic Paperie. Full of gorgeous bright fun papers.
Here is a wee view of the inside of my gatefold card. I have carried the same papers through and just stamped and image and sentiment from Hero Arts and added a wee blingy swirl :)

I hope you have time to check out the fabulous DT samples and maybe even join in with us this week! Before entering this week's challenge, I just want to remind you that the rules for entering have changed slightly. Notably that entries must feature stamps or other focal products stocked at Quixotic Paperie.

Hope you have a great day!!

Sugar Nellie - 'Searching'

Good Morning folks!

This morning the Sugar Nellie DT are going to do another little friendly hop. We are going to share with you the truly gorgeous Kathy Hare images and we are each going to show a different one from Saturday!

I would like to share with you 'Searching'. I just love this summery image! I coloured the image with prisma pencils and I just loved the way Dena glittered her clouds, so I did the same! I kept the card pretty simple as I really wanted to show off the image.

I don't need to explain much except to tell you I got the lovely wooden flowers from Quixotic Paperie. They can be altered but I kept them plain as they matched the colours of the raffia and sentiment circle.

I hope you have time to check out the rest of the girls' work! You are sure to be inspired!

Here is a link to all to the other girls blogs!
Thanks for visiting today!

Enjoy the rest of your day,
Judy x

Sugar Nellie - Leanne Ellis and Simply Create Class

Happy Monday to you all!

Hope you all had a great weekend. I had a super day on Saturday down at Simply Create demo-ing prisma pencils and pens! It was a lovely day and it was great to have Kath pop in and say 'Hello'. Now I didn't let her just watch .... she and some of the other ladies had a try at colouring some images themselves and they made a really super job! For some of them it was their first time with pencils and alcohol markers.

Now it wasn't all plain sailing..we had some drama...first of all was the thunder and lightening and them boom a power cut! Now try colouring in the dark! Thankfully it only lasted a few minutes and we were able to carry on :)

Now onto the card. The card today I am showing you is one of the cards we will be making at my next class at Jacqui's on the 14th June @ 7pm. I think there may still be a few spaces left! If you want to re-create this card then phone 01975-564010. I will preview the other card later on in the week.

The card features the stunning image from Sugar Nellie, drawn by Leanne Ellis called 'Tell Me Something'. The image is coloured with prisma pencils and the papers are all MME 'So Sophie' collection. My inspiration for the card has come from the super talented Kathy. I love how she distresses her edges with crackle paint. Just beautiful! The flowers are all made with retro flower punches and the edges painted with 'Picket Fence' Crackle Paint
Thanks for stopping by today. And thank you for all your generous comments on the new Kathy Hare release. Tomorrow the DT will be showing their take on another of the stamps they received!

And just one more thing.... do you love Hero Arts???? Make sure you stop by the Simply Create blog...Jacqui is giving away some super blog candy to celebrate her 1st (shop!) birthday!

Sugar Nellie - Kathy Hare Release

Good morning and welcome to a very special Sugar Nellie blog hop. We are very excited today to bring you a brand new illustrator to the House of Sugar. Now it has been no secret that we have the amazingly talented Kathy Hare joining the illustrating team at Sugar Nellie. I have been very excited about this and was not disappointed when I saw her beautiful images.

So today the DT are here to show you each and every image that is going to be released!
If you have just joined me you might want to go back and start at the beginning of the hop, which starts at the Sugar Nellie blog.

Then follow this order:

Now my card today features the adorable boy hugging his teddy bear. This one is called 'Worried'. Isn't it just gorgeous? I have coloured him with prisma pencils as I thought it looked like he deserved the softer look. I tried to make the Bear look a bit textured, so therefore did not blend with mineral spirits.

The papers are from the DCWV 'Linen Stack'...boy I hunted high and low to get hold of them! I eventually found them at Crafty Charlies! The star is a Sizzix die and the ticket is from Tim Holtz.

Did you spot my little secret tag??

Well I just thought it would add a little extra dimension to the card. The sentiment is from Paper Pretties.

Now if you love these images just pop over to Funky Kits where they are available to buy right AWAY!

Your next stop on the hop is Sarah!

Thank you for stopping by

Quixotic Paperie 1st Birthday Blog Hop!!

Today is the 1st Anniversary of the Quixotic Paperie online store, and we're having a celebratory blog hop! If you're already following the hop, you should have hopped over here from Kim. If not, then hop back to the beginning at the Quixotic Paperie Store Blog. You won't want to miss a stop, as in addition to lots of fantastic inspiration, there are some prizes on offer (full details on the Quixotic Paperie Blog).

Quixotic Paperie was started on June 1st 2009 by Elaine Hughes. Having been an avid crafter (and craft shopper!) for a number of years, Elaine wanted to share her passion and see where it might take her - so, Quixotic Paperie was born! Since then, the store has grown, and now stocks a fabulous range of rubber stamps from around the world: The Greeting Farm, Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, SCACD Stamps, Paper Makeup Stamps, Belles 'n Whistles, the Mo Manning for Stamping Bella range, Stempelglede and more! In addition, the store carries a large range of charms and embellishments, and a host of gorgeous papers for all your crafty projects! If Elaine loves it, you will probably find it at Quixotic Paperie!
In November 2009 the Quixotic Challenges blog was started, where you can find weekly inspiration from the wonderful Quixotic Paperie Design Team, and join in for the chance to win a monthly prize.
It has been a fabulous and wonderfully crafty year and I am delighted to have been part of the fabulously talented team! Here's to another one and hopefully many more to follow!
So for this very special birthday hop I have made a card with a matching gift box. I won't go into too much detail but feel free to ask any questions! The image is from Belle's and Whistle's and is called 'Sunshine and Apples' and is available at the Quixotic Paperie. The papers are Girls' Paperie and are utterly gorgeous. The gift box is an altered match box...one of the slighly larger ones. I used the same papers and embellishments so it would co-ordinate with the card. The roses and the spray are both found in Quixotic Paperie.
Thank you for joining us on the hop! Don't forget to leave comments if want to be in with a chance of winning one of the 3 amazing prizes!

Your next stop is Rowena.
